JAMES DILLON O'ROURKE
![]() |
My name is Jim O'Rourke and I have been an image maker
for as long as I can remember. Through all of the
experimentation of
many art forms, when it came time for me to define myself as an artist, the
camera had most definitely chosen me. My short photo journalist
career has been extremely rewarding. I must admit to an absolute rush
at the sight of my byline. Being responsible for thought provoking
images is an awesome, fun and exciting responsibility to have. I learn
something almost every time I pick up my lens. Composition, lighting and
emotional intelligence are all essential when shooting however; when you
don't have time to think about any of that, and shoot with complete
intuition, the results can be a snap worth a million words. I was recently honored by The Florida Press Association for
my photo essay on the Key West Cuban American Heritage Festival.
My photography has been published in: The Miami Herald, Celebrate!
The Key West Citizen, Editor & Publisher, The KeyNoter, U Magazine,
The Breeze, Island News, The Associated Press (AP), as well as many
private events, music CD covers, web sites and calendars. Please consider contacting me with your photographic needs. I'd be happy to discuss what I can do for you. Enjoy my "E-portfolio". Cheers! James Dillon O'Rourke To contact by E-mail, please write to:
